Publishing Typesetting Internships - Fall 2016

Summary
The Typesetting Intern is responsible for assisting with the publication process by typesetting as well as checking for plagiarism. This intern will also assist with other duties as it pertains to the Publishing Department.
Position is paid Hourly

Requirements

  • The person in this position frequently communicates staff and possibly with other academics and other publishing professionals who might have questions regarding submitting work, or submitted work.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to move about occasionally inside and outside the office to access file cabinets or other office related supplies.
  • Constantly operates a computer or other office equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to focus simultaneously on short and long-term projects.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite; comprehensive knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to learn the Chicago Manual of Style (“CMS”) 16th edition.
  • Interest in academic publishing.
  • Ability to commit 10+ hours a week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engaging with the typesetting process.
  • Utilizing plagiarism checking software.
  • Other tasks as required by the Publishing Department or Management.

Marketing/Social Media Internships - Fall 2016

Summary
The Social Media Internship gives students an opportunity to learn more about marketing. Interns will interact with multiple levels of the promotional process.
Position is paid Hourly

Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Constantly operates a computer or other office equipment
  • The person in this position needs to move about occasionally inside and outside the office to access file cabinets or other office related supplies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to focus simultaneously on short- and long-term projects
  • Interest in marketing, communication, or social media applications
  • Awareness of Google Analytics and/or other methods of tracking patterns of user interaction with websites and e-newsletters
  • Ability to organize and interpret data related to internet usage
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite; comprehensive knowledge of Excel
  • Experience working with email marketing service
  • Ability to commit 10+ hours a week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engaging with the marketing process
  • Interacting in weekly lessons
  • Evaluating effectiveness of promotional activities and marketing campaigns
  • Assisting with creation of newsletters and other promotional materials
  • Assist with analysis of website traffic
  • Other tasks as required by the Publishing Department or Management.
