Accounts & Human Resources Team Leader

Summary

The Accounts and Human Resources Team Leader has 2 associates reporting to her/him. He/she is accountable for the administrative, accounting, and human resource management operations of the corporation. The employee exercises considerable initiative and professional skill and judgment to manage the multiple facets of the Accounts and Human Resources (“HR”) team. Work is performed under the general direction of the Chief Social Scientist. Work is subject to review through analysis of reports and regular meetings. Supervision is exercised over 2 other professionals assigned to the Accounts & HR team.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises two non-supervisory employees, as well as is a part of the management team and coaches and advises the team on the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the company. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • The person in this position regularly communicates with delegates, authors, vendors, and Company personnel. Must be able to exchange accurate information to these individuals mentioned above.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to focus simultaneously on short and long-term projects.
  • Skilled user of accounting software
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite; comprehensive knowledge of Excel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees and directs treasury, budgeting, tax, accounting, payments, long range forecasting, and insurance activities for the organization
  • Directs the accounts team in providing and directing procedures and computer application systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services
  • Ensures that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
  • Appraises the organization's financial position and issues periodic reports on organization's financial stability, liquidity, and growth
  • Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation and reporting to the organization
  • Analyzes operational issues affecting functional groups and the whole organization, and determines their economic impact
  • Develops performance measures that support the corporation’s strategic direction
  • Reviews and drives improvements in cash management, ensuring financial obligations are met in accordance with Company policies and procedures
  • Monitor and update Accounts & HR Department work assignments – review with staff at least annually, and update as needed to balance workload, and ensure that tasks are appropriate based on staff job classifications, experience, and training.
  • Keeps records of benefits plan participation such as insurance and retirement plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting
  • Administers benefits programs such as long-term disability, health, vision and dental insurance, retirement plans, vacation, sick and personal leave, other leave of absences, and employee assistance
  • Analyzes wage and salary reports and data to determine competitive compensation plans
  • Oversees employee benefits programs, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package
  • Develops and maintains a human resources system that meets top management information needs
  • Other duties as required by the Director and Chief Social Scientist.

Part time Support Associate

Summary

This is a part time position with potential for typical office hours or working from home during evenings and the weekend. This individual will be responsible for providing an excellent customer service experience to all individuals contacting Common Ground. Responsibilities will include answering support requests pertaining to our conferences, journals, and software. This position requires a strong grasp of the English language, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to quickly familiarize oneself with Common Ground processes, and a dedicated customer service mindset. The ideal candidate will be intelligent, articulate, and able to adapt quickly to a changing work environment. They will also be independent workers who can manage their own time efficiently.

Requirements

Summary
The Typesetting Intern is responsible for assisting with the publication process by typesetting as well as checking for plagiarism. This intern will also assist with other duties as it pertains to the Publishing Department.
Position is paid Hourly
