Rebecca Lave will present in the Imagining Futures Speaker Series on February 26, 2021 - 10:00AM (CST - Chicago).
"Streams of Revenue: The Restoration Economy and the Ecosystems it Creates"
Rebecca Lave is a Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Geography at Indiana University. Her research, funded primarily by the National Science Foundation, combines social and physical science to address environmental markets, the politics of expertise, and stream restoration. Her new book, Streams of Revenues: The Restoration Economy and the Ecosystems it Creates (MIT Press; co-written with Martin Doyle), focuses on stream mitigation under the US Clean Water Act, and asks how a market for restored streams came into existence, how it functions, and whether it does what advocates thought it would. In addition to recognition for her writing, Lave has won numerous teaching awards, including Indiana University’s Campus Catalyst Award for Excellence in Teaching Sustainability.
