Common Ground Research Networks (CGRN) is pleased to announce to that Dr. Ross Brinkert of Penn State University is the newly-appointed chair of the International Conference on Knowledge, Culture, and Change in Organizations and newly-appointed editor of the Organization Studies Research Network. Dr. Brinkert has already begun his work as conference chair by collaborating with CGRN Chief Social Scientist Phillip Kalantzis-Cope to develop the theme of “The New Story of Organizing” for the upcoming conference from February 21–22, 2019 at the University of British Columbia, Robson Square in Vancouver, Canada.

Dr. Brinkert is associate professor of Corporate Communication at Penn State Abington where he will soon to be completing a four-year term as program chair. He operates from a social constructionist theoretical orientation to address processes of positive narrative expansion in interactive professional communication. He has written about how organizations and individuals can transform conflicts from threats into opportunities, how organizations can benefit from gratitude communication, and how professionals at various career stages can best represent themselves. His scholarly work is strengthened by considerable applied experience in supporting organizations, leaders, and emerging leaders in more effectively presenting to, influencing, and relating to others.

Dr. Brinkert is the co-author of the book Conflict Coaching: Conflict Management Strategies and Skills for the Individual and the author of articles in journals such as Conflict Resolution Quarterly, Journal of the International Ombudsman Association, and Group Facilitation. Dr. Brinkert is currently completing two contracted books, a strategic communication textbook and a book on gratitude communication in the workplace.

Dr. Brinkert is excited to be partnering with CGRN, “Common Ground Research Networks, with its Organization Studies conferences and publications, represents a uniquely powerful platform for developing new perspectives and contributing to practical solutions because of their commitment to embracing an interdisciplinary and international point of view on organizations and organizing. It is a commitment I very much share.”
