Authors published in a Common Ground book and authors of a book chapter currently in-press with Common Ground can register for open access publication of their article. Our open access publications are licensed using the Creative Commons license, “Attribution-Non-Commercial-No-Derivatives 4.0 International” (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). After completing these steps, you will receive notification from our editorial staff when your publication has been updated, making it free to download and licensed under the (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) Creative Commons license.
How to Register for Open Access
STEP 1: Find, Click, & Pay
- Visit Open Access Registration | Books
- Locate the book where your chapter was published.
- Select the purchase option for “PDF $250.00” and follow the instructions in CGScholar to complete your payment for the open access registration.
STEP 2: Download Your Copy
- After completing your payment, visit your library/purchases to download the Open Access PDF. Then, enter the details about your chapter as indicated on the form.
- When completing the form, please include your Order Number and Transaction ID to help us confirm your payment. These can be found on your payment receipt and by logging into your CGScholar profile and viewing your orders.

STEP 3: Send the Registration Form
- After saving a copy for your personal records, please finalize your open access registration by sending a copy of your form to openaccess@cgnetworks.org.
Open Access Terms
After completing payment for Open Access registration, you will download your personal copy of the Open Access Agreement. Your copy of the agreement will contain the terms quoted below as well as a brief form for providing your article information and contact details.
Open Access publication Agreement: Book Chapter
Selected chapters of the Work can be made open access after publication for a fee of $250 USD per book chapter. To opt for Partial Open Access of one or more book chapters, the Creator must register for Partial Open Access, agree to the terms, and provide payment for the service of open access publication. The select open access chapter(s) will be made made freely available in electronic format in the Publisher’s online bookstore. The select open access chapter(s) will be protected with Some Rights Reserved as public Licensed Material, available under the terms and conditions of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International public License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). The use of the material is permitted for non-commercial use provided the creator(s) and the Publisher receive attribution. No derivatives of this version are permitted. Official terms of this public license apply as indicated here: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/legalcode. The open access option does not include publication in any commercial format; commercial use must be preapproved through a reprint agreement with with the Publisher.
