The Knowledge Experience (KX)

At the conceptual core of the Media Lab is the Knowledge Experience (KX) framework—a research program exploring knowledge as a lived, participatory process.

KX theory examines how digital media reshape epistemic relations: between authors and readers, experts and publics, humans and machines.

This framework informs all Media Lab projects, providing the critical foundation for rethinking how knowledge is structured, valued, and shared in digital environments.
