Phase 5 - Copyediting

After your manuscript has met the requirements of Phase 4, it will be moved into Copy Editing.

Your manuscript will be copy edited to correct grammar, spelling, and syntax issues. You may be asked to correct or resolve minor issues during this phase. Once all copy-editing notes are resolved, you will receive a typeset proof in Phase 6 for final inspection.

Please note that no content updates to the manuscript can be made in this phase.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it usually take for Copy Editing to be completed?

Articles are copy-edited in the order they enter the queue. This step requires skilled editorial work and typically takes 30 to 90 days, depending on current volume. Once your manuscript has been edited, you will receive notes and instructions for author corrections. We appreciate your patience during this phase.

Can you expedite my manuscript?

We are unable to accommodate requests for expedited copy editing. All articles are processed sequentially to ensure fairness and quality.

Why is my document locked?

The copy-editing file is specially formatted to track author changes automatically and preserve journal layout integrity. This ensures consistency and version control.

How do I edit the locked document?

Make all revisions directly in the text. Please do not respond to editorial queries using the comment feature—enter corrections inline as requested.

What if I notice formatting errors in the locked document?

Some layout elements are intentionally restricted. The CGRN Journal Publishing Team will correct any remaining formatting issues after you submit your copy-edited file.
