Live thread is the fourth tab on a conference, between Schedule and Presentations. There is one card on it, one conversation, and it runs in order.
Everyone taking part can see it. That is the point of it, and it is worth remembering before you post.
Two things on the platform are headed Live thread, and they are not the same conversation.
A question about someone’s paper asked here will not reach them. Ask it on their presentation’s discussion board, where they are notified twice over.
Write in the box, add an emoji if you want one, and Send. Your post carries your name and picture and links to your profile.
If somebody has already asked what you were about to ask, Recommend it rather than posting it again. One thread, read in order, is easily buried.

No. This is the conference’s thread, one for the whole event. A discussion board belongs to a single presentation — confusingly, the card inside one is also headed Live thread.
The presenter was not notified. Ask on that presentation’s discussion board, where they get both a notification and an email.
It is the platform’s like, worded differently. The count sits beside it with the lightbulb, and it is the right response to a question somebody has already asked.
